Intl Trade Theory & Pol — This course will develop a theoretical framework to understand international trade. Students will examine the possibility of gains from trade, the nature of comparative advantage, the determination of the pattern of trade, the role of scale economies, imperfect competition, and factor movements. Students will examine trade policy, in particular the effects of protection (tariffs and non-tariff barriers) on prices and domestic consumer and producer economic welfare.
